Job Purpose: |
Accountable to the Deputy Technical Manager.
Senior Nutrition officer will be responsible for implementing and coordinating all nutrition related project activities in the proposed province. The position holder will represent JACK's values and principles in interactions with staff and external audiences. |
Job Responsibilities: |
- The JACK Senior Nutrition Officer will be responsible for coordinating all the nutrition-related activities and working closely with key stakeholders such as WFP, UNICEF, PND, MoPH BPHS/EPHS, and field partners.
- Analyze and exchange information with provincial partners/stakeholders (provincial nutrition team, using evidence such as monitoring findings, nutrition database, national nutrition surveillance system (NNSS) reports, etc.
- He/she will follow up and assess progress, and identify bottlenecks and potential problems for taking timely decisions to resolve issues.
- Represent JACK and provide updates at nutrition coordination meetings at provincial meetings.
- Provide continuous support to the provincial nutrition committee to analyze routine data sources to map gaps and bottlenecks in the provision of nutrition services in all health facilities.
- Prepare monitoring and supervision visits plan at the field for priority areas to fill the gaps.
- Regular monthly follow-up of the recommended action points for implementation of nutrition activities
- Monitor and supervise nutrition services at health facilities (HFs), health posts, and communities, and provide feedback to the nutrition provincial team.
- Conduct data verification sessions for Weekly Iron Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFS), Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM), Community Nutrition Program (CBNP), and Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) indicators using agreed tools such as national management information system (MIS) including HMIS, nutrition online database and WIFS online database.
- Monitor and follow up key activities related to nutrition supply and ensure that supply (i.e., RUTF, IFA, Anthropometric equipment, CBNP kits, Vit-A) is properly handled and used for the intended purpose.
- Make sure that the targeted province has a proper quarterly or monthly distribution plan in place and ensure early release of supply from the main warehouse to avoid stockout at HFs and service delivery points.
- Ensure the provincial nitration team submits their supply request within due time frame to PND/UNICEF and WFP,
- Ensure safety, security, proper handling, and storage of supply including proper documentation in all HFs including main warehouses to avoid wastage, damage, misuse, and expiry of supply.
- Provide regular feedback on the nutrition activities of the program.
- Highly contribute to the development of donor and other nutrition-related reports
- Perform any other required project-related tasks.

Job Requirements: |
- A diploma in nutrition Management or certification from a recognized institute or entity, Medical doctor is preferred.
- Experience working with UN or NGO programs/projects is an asset.
- At least 4 years of experience in the provision of nutrition management.
- To be tactful and have strong interpersonal skills and communication
- Fluency in spoken and written Dari and Pashtu is a requirement. English Language skills are a plus point
- Knowledge of the area, socio-culture, and local language where the post is located as an added advantage
