Job Purpose:
The Senior EPI officer is Accountable to the Deputy Technical Manager. The Senior EPI Officer for the Ghazni Province HER Project plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful implementation of the project in the province. This position requires expertise in the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) and a strong commitment to improving healthcare outcomes for the local population.
Job Responsibilities:
  • The Senior EPI Officer will oversee and manage the implementation of the EPI program in Ghazni Province.
  • planning, coordination, and monitoring of immunization activities in the field.
  • conducting training sessions, workshops, and on-the-job mentoring to enhance the knowledge and skills of the healthcare workforce.
  • responsible for monitoring and evaluating the performance of the EPI program in Ghazni Province.
  • participating in meetings, workshops, and other forums.
  • conducting regular quality assessments, implementing corrective actions, and promoting adherence to national standards and guidelines.
  • This includes ensuring accurate and timely reporting, maintaining data confidentiality, and utilizing data for evidence-based decision-making.
  • actively engage with the local community to promote awareness and understanding of immunization.
  • conducting community outreach activities, addressing misconceptions and concerns, and fostering community participation in immunization programs.
  • Assist with feasibility studies of the site as required.
  • Under-take survey on EPI target diseases in the target area
  • Obtain a clear picture of the essential technical and administrative needs of the facilities.
  • Ensure the health facilities have functional and proper vaccination units both in clinics and for outreach. 
  • Conduct meetings with authorities, community leaders, elders, and head of households to improve community participation and indirect evaluation of the field activities.
  • Assist with other staff in cases of disease outbreaks and immunization campaigns.
  • Perform any other required project-related tasks.
Job Requirements:
  • A diploma in nutrition Management or certification from a recognized institute or entity, Medical doctor is preferred.
  • Experience working with UN or NGO programs/projects is an asset.
  • At least 4 years of experience in the provision of nutrition management.
  • To be tactful and have strong interpersonal skills and communication
  • Fluency in spoken and written Dari and Pashtu is a requirement. English Language skills are a plus point
  • Knowledge of the area, socio-culture, and local language where the post is located as an added advantage
