Job Purpose: |
Accountable to the Deputy Technical Manager.
Senior Nutrition officer will be responsible for implementing and coordinating all nutrition related project activities in the proposed province. The position holder will represent JACK's values and principles in interactions with staff and external audiences. |
Job Responsibilities: |
- Participate in the conduction of studies and surveys where appropriate.
- Ensure proper communication, coordination, and harmonization of tools with the different stakeholders involved in health and nutrition activities in the province.
- Ensure the establishment of nutrition monitoring activities and train health staff in case detection and referral systems.
- Establish both Stabilization Centers, Supplementary feeding programs, and Out-Patient therapeutic programs in line with the national guidelines.
- Enhance technical and nutrition management skills of staff through formal and informal training in conjunction with other coordinators.
- Train and support JACK health facilities staff and partners in case management of severe and moderate malnutrition in accordance with national guidelines.
- Assist health facilities staff in the implementation of the referral and surveillance systems.
- Manage nutrition staff effectively, including appropriate and systemic delegation.
- Coordinate and support the provincial teams, ensuring that the individuals work effectively together and achieve the program objectives.
- Supervise the overall activities of nutrition teams with particular emphasis on the screening activities of acutely malnourished children.
- Attend nutrition cluster meetings as needed.
- Attend nutrition coordination meetings at different levels.
- Represent JACK’s nutrition work to local stakeholders, the MoPH, international donors, UN agencies, and NGOs as required.
- Analyze nutrition screening data, compile reports, and share reports; both with the MOPH and with agencies within existing coordination mechanisms.
- Study the nutrition condition of the women and children in the target areas and recommend the expansion of therapeutic and supplementary feeding programs if required.
- Submit relevant reports of activities to the relevant line manager.
- To carry out any other duties and responsibilities assigned.
- Follow up and supervise of IMNCI activities at HFs according to IMNCI rules and regulation.
- Participation at IMNCI subcommittee and other relevant meetings regularly,
- Follow up and supervise the C-IMCI program at the community level sues HPs in close coordination with CHS.
- Supplying of IMNCI tool to HFs.
- Conducting job training for HF’s staff regarding IMNCI.
- Managing all IMNCI documents at HFs and community level
- Conducting orientation sessions for HFs staff.
- Evaluation of HFs according to IMNCI standards.
- Data entry of IMNCI Database.
- Prepare an action plan for follow-up of IMNCI activities
- Responsible for supervising related health facilities
- Responsible for following up P4P mechanism in related health facilities.
- Responsible for the selected P4P targets of related health facilities and to reach the targets, use the approach mechanisms.
- Collecting monthly MAIR reports and other reports of related HFs and analyzing of them.

Job Requirements: |
- MD degree, preferably with postgraduate qualification in the field of Public Nutrition.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related field
- Pashtu, Dari, and English, language proficiency.
- Good communication skills, basic computer skills extendible
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
