Job Purpose:
As a Media and Communication Officer at JACK's main office, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing effective media and communication strategies to promote the organization's mission, values, and initiatives. You will be responsible for creating compelling content, managing media relations, and maintaining a strong online presence. You will collaborate closely with various teams to ensure consistent messaging and engage with stakeholders, including the press, partners, and the public.
Job Responsibilities:

The Media and Communication officer is reportable to JACK General Director. The following items are the main responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute media and communication strategies aligned with JACK's goals and objectives.
  • Create high-quality, engaging content for various channels, including press releases, articles, blog posts, social media posts, and website content.
  • Manage all aspects of media relations, including cultivating relationships with journalists, pitching stories, and coordinating interviews.
  • Manage JACK's media relations, establish and maintain relationships with journalists, influencers, and media outlets.
  • Coordinate and facilitate media interviews, press conferences, and events, ensuring accurate messaging and representation of JACK.
  • Monitor media coverage and organization trends to identify opportunities for proactive media outreach and brand positioning.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather information, stories, and updates for communication purposes, ensuring consistent messaging across all channels.
  • Manage JACK's social media accounts, including content creation, scheduling, monitoring, and engaging with followers.
  • Development of Jack’s Communications Strategy
  • Assist in providing communication support to all program units.
  • Translate the communication and outreach documents, news and reports and other publicity materials from English to Dari & Pashto and vice-versa.
  • Regularly updating of JACK’s website, Dari, Pashto and English pages.
  • Regularly updating JACK’s social media accounts such as Twitter, Facebook, and others social media networks.
  • To be able to plan and organize travel to the field to gather success stories, videos, and photograph with high quality.
  • Design photographs for publication on website, newsletters, and brochures.
  • Network and coordinate activities with government and partner organization as appropriate.
  • Undertake any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirements:
  • A university degree in Literature or journalism is preferred.
  • At least 4 years of work experience in program/communication and media program, donor relations, media and communications designing, reporting.
  • Familiar with tools such as camera and camcorders for shooting video and photography.
  • Experience in writing newsletters and reports.
  • Ability to design brochures, booklets and project related promotional materials using Photoshop,
  • Adobe Premier/Final Cut and other relevant software programs.
  • Fluent in Dari/Pashto and English languages (Reading, Writing and Speaking),
  • Great team working, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent in translation from English to Dari/Pashto and vice versa
  • Able to deal with difficult situations, multiple deadline and work under pressure.
  • Problem solving and decision-making ability.
  • Competency in using computers e.g Microsoft office, publisher, Photoshop and other designing.
