Job Purpose: |
The Child Protection Officer will be responsible to implement the JACK Child Protection activities/policies in education projects throughout the country. She/he will work directly with children, families and communities to strengthen the prevention and response to issues of abuse, neglect, violence and exploitation against children in the current crisis. The Child Protection Officer will ensure PSS, cash for protection, and community engagement plans are in place so that children are protected from the risks of exploitation, abuse, neglect and violence. |
Job Responsibilities: |
- Preparation of work plan according to JACK and UNICEF Child Protection Policy.
- Monitor and review the child protection policy and procedures to ensure they remain current and fit for the purpose.
- Facilitate community capacity building on child protection prevention and response to child protection risks.
- Develop community engagement plan to ensure child protection risks are addressed.
- Reaching to the community children and mothers to understand the local materials needed and IEC materials to be shared.
- Establish a good working relation with community shuras and key actors in the project areas to ensure access and regular contact with children and families.
- Attend internal and external training to enhance knowledge on programming approaches.
- Ensure that proper community mobilization practices and “Do No Harm” practices are incorporated and upheld throughout the planning and implementation of the project.
- Develop and implement case plans that respond to the needs of the child identified in the initial and comprehensive assessments.
- Facilitate safe and confidential referrals to other service providers.
- In coordination with the M&E/EMIS unit, ensure that the M&E system is implemented and adhered to enable evidence of impact data to be captured.
- Work with the protection/project teams to ensure close links between case management, other sectoral activities and the work with community-based child protection mechanism.
- Participate in internal meetings and coordinate relevant activities with other program/sector teams.
- Other/Where required, liaise with the JACK Child Protection Officer and/or statutory agencies and ensure they have access to all necessary information.
- Any other task assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements: |
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 year of experience implementing protection or child protection programs.
- Experience in implementing programs with case management and psychosocial support components is desirable.
- Worked in a team setting and able to collaborate effectively with other stakeholders.
Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification:
- Bachelor degree in community development, psychology, social work, sociology, and other social sciences relevant.
- Certification or other recognized courses on Protection, Child Protection, Gender-based Violence, International Humanitarian Law and other relevant subjects.
- Basic knowledge of child protection principles and programming approaches.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ethical sensitivity and ability to effectively communicate with children and their caregivers.
- Knowledge and awareness of inter-agency Child Protection in Humanitarian Action tools, guidelines and other resources is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills – self-motivated individuals, able to take initiative and propose solutions, resilient, positive, and able to work independently

- Ability to handle confidential and politically sensitive issues in a responsible and mature manner;
- Excellent capacity development and teamwork skills; cross-cultural and gender sensitivity;
- Ability to travel throughout the country;
- Ability to use information technology effectively.
- Must have basic level computer skills- Microsoft office
Language Requirements:
Excellent English communication skills as long as knowledge of the local language |
