Job Responsibilities: |
- Implement environmental and social safeguards related activities as outlined in the project Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) and other documents.
- Ensure timely and accurate assessment of people affected by the project are implemented in line with the ESMF requirements.
- Ensure that safety and health concerns of the workers and the general public are addressed during the construction of area.
- Certifying that the project sites are properly screened with the relevant ESMF tools and guidelines during project implementation by the project beneficiaries and stakeholders.
- Confirming that all Occupational Health and Safety Guidelines are properly implemented
- Organize environmental and social safeguards orientation, awareness, and training for construction sites labour and local community and participate in national level consultations with major stakeholders;
- Participate in the conduct of Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), prepare Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMPs) and implement them within the assigned Center and Districts.
- Review and endorse all ESMF related documents and technical proposals to ensure full compliance with ESMF requirements prior to submission for bid documentation preparation.
- Advising relevant entities on the environmental implications of safeguard policies of the WBK, UN and environmental policies of the national government.
- Conduct regular field visits to assess subproject sites, meet with the local beneficiaries to make sure that no adverse environmental or social impacts are occurring or anticipated.
- Review and endorse all Project Preparation documents to ensure the incorporation of environmental and social issues.
- Describe health issues- water stagnation, exposure to dust, communicable diseases and etc.
- Providing environmental inputs to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities

Job Requirements: |
- University degree (Bachelor) in Sociology, Environmental Agriculture science or related field;
- A minimum of three (3) years professional experience in environmental and social management for water and irrigation related engineering works;
- Working knowledge of English and the local languages (Pashto and/or Dari);
- National of Afghanistan.
